Creating An Internet Marketing System

Too many people come online looking to make money within a clue. I know that’s a rather blunt statement, but it’s the truth. I’ve been in this space since 2006 and I see it far too often. A beginner gets online or stumbles upon a promise of instant internet riches. They opt-in to a squeeze page, though they don’t know that’s what it’s called.

Then they read a long page with lots of testimonials and proof that this can’t fail proven product works. So, they buy it. And then they either read the ebook or not. Most don’t even read it. They just buy it and wait for something to happen. Of course, when nothing happens and they find themselves in the same boat, they get upset at either themselves or the product creator.

And then they go out and start over. But this time, they’re more savvy. They look for better products, better ideas, maybe even a software that will just do the work for them. So they buy that one click software only to find that it’s not very easy to setup and use. And maybe now they have to buy hosting or a domain name… and what’s this talk about an autoresponder?

Oh boy… it’s getting real now.

Finally, the person usually just gives up. They think they’ve given it a go and it just didn’t work out for them or whatever. But here’s my point in all this. Did this person ever really start a business? Did they ever use an actual internet marketing system? Odds are,  no, they did not.

Because a system actually does work. As long as it’s been tested and converting, system works. You can count on them. And that’s why my business partners and I create. We create 7 figure+ marketing systems. And we’ve got another big one coming out in a few months. When it comes out, you’ll hear about it.

Because odds are, half the people in the internet marketing and network marketing niche will want in on it. And that’s cool. The reason why they want in is because we have a system that works. Prospects come in one side and buyers come out the other.

So, I want to stress to you that you need to do more than just buy a product. Study the process that sold you that product. Because that’s what marketing is. It’s the HOW. The product is your WHAT, but the marketing is how you’re going to sell your product. Within a good marketing system, you’re dead in the water.

I’ll write more on creating marketing systems, but for right now, go buy something and take notes on every single page you see. That will show you a process that is currently working for that product owner. And heck, even if you don’t use the product at all, at least you know you’ll get something out of it this time.

Mobile Marketing and Small Business: An Overlooked Marketing Plan Finally on the Rise

Today, it would be grossly negligent to try to run any business without computers, internet access and a web presence. More recently, social media seemed like a strange experiment and many businesses hesitated to join Facebook, Twitter and other outlets. The businesses who hopped on board and built friend lists, gained Facebook “likes” and developed a following benefitted greatly while the naysayers simply colored themselves irrelevant.

So, what is the next big marketing innovation for small business owners? Many experts see targeted mobile marketing as the newest frontier. If this is true, what strategies can be used to succeed in the new world of mobile web based marketing? And, what are benefits of being one of the renegade few companies who jump in first?

Mobile phones have become as near and dear to most individuals as their wallets and handbags. The International Telecommunication Union reports that over 5 billion people are subscribed to cell phone plans worldwide and in the United States, 9 out of every 10 people uses a mobile phone. Mobile phones, unlike television sets, radios and computers are almost always within arm’s length.

Marketing to potential customers via their mobile phone begins to make alot of sense when research studies report that at least 10% of all online searches, one of the most popular ways people seek information about products and services, are performed on mobile phones. Over 95% of new phones are equipped with mobile web browsers and, in the United States, 70 million or more consumers use their mobile device to browse the web regularly.

The mobile web is already currently used by 120 million people and experts predict that, in the next three years, all purchasing decisions made by United States consumers will be influenced in some way by the mobile internet. This will be an interesting trend to watch because, in general, mobile web users have a different customer profile than traditional web users and catering to them requires non-traditional thinking. Rather than a fancy website with rich graphics and complicated animation features, mobile web users prefer to see a basic template with the simple facts about a product or service.

Instant gratification features, such as a button that makes restaurant reservations in real time or immediate mapping from the mobile device to your location, appeal to the mobile web user demographic. Google Maps and the review site Yelp are popular mobile web applications and most experts say that having a social media presence is also seen as very favorable among mobile web users.

A very exciting trend, custom mobile apps, gives individuals and businesses the opportunity to create their own program for download. By designing a custom app, you will impress your potential customers, promote your brand and possibly even make an additional income from download sales.

Mobile marketing, which generally utilizes text messaging to send product or promotional information to potential customers, can target a specific customer base via the mobile web. Text messaging is one of the hottest trends in communication worldwide.

With over one trillion text messages sent through cell phone plans in 2008, and that number growing daily, it can be assumed that most consumers are comfortable and web savvy enough to respond favorable to text message marketing. In fact, research from Mobile Marketing Watch suggests that 70% of consumers respond to text message marketing while only 30% respond to email marketing.

Considering how important mobile web usage is predicted to become in the next few years, and the influence it is expected to have on shoppers, one might assume that small businesses were jumping in the gap between old online shopping and new mobile web commerce. But, they are not. In fact, according to some surveys, less than 7% of small businesses have optimized their website for mobile web users and more than 60% view mobile marketing as a newfangled idea that is too cutting edge to actually be successful.

We are at a unique forefront in the world of commerce and technology. The small businesses and companies who jump in wholeheartedly and embrace the new world of mobile web browsing by catering to the needs of this growing customer base will likely reap huge rewards. By utlizing the focused power of text message marketing, taking simple steps to optimize their websites for mobile browsers, installing mobile commerce features and mobile apps that make information gathering easy for consumers and utilizing social media features like Facebook’s “Likes” and “check-ins”, these cutting edge businesses will dare to succeed in the new age of technology driven commerce.

3 Of My Favorite Free WordPress Plugins

I’ve been in this blogging game for a while now. I setup my first blog way back on July 4th, 2006. That’s almost 6 years ago now. Wow. Feels weird typing that. Anyway, that’s an eternity in internet years. The way I figure it, one year on the internet is like 10 years in the offline world. So that gives me about 60 years experience as a blogger.

One of the many things I’ve learned over the years are great wordpress plugins. I don’t really like paying for plugins, so in this post I’ll focus only on my favorite FREE wordpress plugins.

Enough banter, let’s knock this post out in less than 500 words, shall we?

1) All In One SEO Pack

This is a must have plugin. It’s usually the first plugin I add to any theme. This little guy let’s you setup your blog the right way. The way search engines love. You can set your title, your description, your keywords, and easily edit each post or page you make with the SEO you need.

Without this plugin, your blog will have about 25% of it’s full power. You need it. Read about it for more detail.

2) Sociable

We know the whole world has gone social, but has your blog? This handy plugin lets you add links to let your reader share your (hopefully) awesome content on twitter, facebook, and a gazillion other social networks.

This plugin is super easy to configure. Pretty much you just upload it and activate it… that’s it. From that point on, you’ll start seeing traffic coming in from social sites as the viral nature of the internet takes over.

3) Outbrain

This killer plugin is all about stickiness. In that in keeps people on your blog longer. And that is a very good thing. Outbrain offers related posts from your blog (and other blogs) at the end of your content. But here’s the cool part.

It will also put links to your content on other people’s sites. In essence, it’s a blog content link network. And it happens automatically. You just upload and look at the bottom of your blog.

The plugin scours your site for related content and offers it to your reader. The reader then reads more from you and has a much greater chance of joining your list or buying something from you or clicking an ad or doing whatever you want them to do ultimately.

So there you have it. 3 of favorite free wordpress plugins. Your blog will go a lot farther with just these 3 little guys. Of course there’s thousands of great wordpress plugins, but these 3 will put you on the right path.

And we finished with only 444 words.

Summing Up What I Actually Do

A lot of people ask me what it is I exactly do…  most people’s eyes glaze over when I tell them I’m an internet marketer. I even had one guy ask me if that meant I sell porn! So obviously, there’s a lot out misinformation out there.

But then I started thinking about the term internet marketer anyway. What does that mean? If I wrote ads and specialized in the radio would I tell people I’m a radio marketer? Or how about a TV marketer? No and no. The reality is I’m a marketer who has chosen to specialize in the online medium.

Although, rather quickly I’m also expanding into the area of mobile marketing as well. This includes area like mobile websites, SMS text marketing, QR Code Generator, and more. But I’ll save that for another post.

Tonight when I was walking my dog (a time I really love to just think) it finally hit me. The perfect way to explain to people exactly what I do. That way, I’ll never be thwarted again at another party. So, what is it I do?

Here’s the exact sentence, and if you do what I do, you might want to memorize it:

I help small business owners market their products and services online.

And there you have it! A perfect explanation that can apply to just about anything we do. Whether we are helping to sell information products, helping local businesses get new leads, or setting up a free facebook fanpage for a client.

So, that’s what I do. And I love it. It’s part of what makes me who I am. And I’m also proud to say I’m pretty good at it. I’ve either personally or with partners setup multiple businesses ranging from real brick and mortar offline businesses to online “money making systems” and tons of niches from dog skin care to how to write a book, to satellite tv reviews!

It’s been a fun ride thus far and I look forward to what the future holds.
