3 Important Clickbank Affiliate Marketing Tips

Clickbank Affiliate Marketing Tips

Many affiliates are led to believe that easy money and instant riches are a sure bet when you sell products via the Clickbank marketplace. I can tell you from years of experience and lots of work with individual marketers, that it’s not always as easy as it seems.

Before I give you  my top 3 tips, let me tell you why you might want to listen to me. I’ve been on the “inside” of the clickbank marketplace since 2007 and know many of the top vendors, especially in the “home biz” or internet marketing niche. I myself am a Clickbank top 100 Vendor which is cool because I can call Clickbank whenever I have questions or need to fast track a product for approval.

So, when I give you these tips for improving your clickbank affiliate sales, you can rest assured I’m not just making them up. These are non-negotiable.

Clickbank Affiliate Marketing Tip 1

Choose wisely.

There are many different categories of products for sale. And most people in the affiliate marketing world only look at the e-business and e-marketing section. This is only 1 area of Clickbank. There are so many others. Look around and study the gravity of products. Gravity means “how many people are promoting this product.”

In general, the higher the gravity the better. However, there is a point where gravity is so high, you will face stiff competition. I’ve seen that products with a gravity around 50 (trending up) usually convert for me.

Clickbank Affiliate Marketing Tip 2

Work Backwards.

Look for what is already selling in clickbank. Let that be how you choose your niche. If there’s a product selling in Clickbank with a decent gravity (100+) then you can know for certain that it is indeed a profitable niche. From that point, work backwards to create your marketing strategy.

Let the successful product teach you what people are looking for. See how they are writing their copy. Watch their videos. Then, build your campaigns around that. If you’re running facebook ads, use some of the proven sales letter copy that is already making sales. Simple, really.

Clickbank Affiliate Marketing Tip 3

Build A List.

I can’t stress this one enough. If you are going to go through all the trouble of setting up a marketing campaign, keyword research, and all the work it takes to find a profitable converting product… then PLEASE don’t short change yourself by not building a list for yourself. This can be done by just sending your clicks to a squeeze page.

Up front, your conversion might be a little bit lower than just sending them directly to a sales letter… but ultimately you’ll make more money because you can now promote other clickbank products to those people again and again.

It’s simple math.

So, there you have it. 3 Simple tips for affiliate marketing with Clickbank products. Now, get out there and sell something!

Market Research: Give Your Customers What They Want

When it comes to successful marketing, the biggest problem I see beginners making is focusing on WHAT they are going to sell. Sadly, this is generally a recipe for failure. And the bad part is, this is what makes the most sense. As the quote goes, “build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door.”

In some instances, this may be true. Some of the greatest inventions of our time were new ideas. From the combustible engine to the IPAD, there weren’t people asking for these things. If you asked someone what they wanted before the invention of the automobile, they wouldn’t say a “moving vehicle”… they’d want a faster horse because that’s all they knew.

So, there is a time and place for stretching your customer and changing the paradigm of their thinking. But, in general, you need to focus not on what your customer NEEDS… but instead on what they want.

Here’s the truth about marketing/psychology/life in general:

People don’t go after what they NEED… they go after what they WANT.

Sure, we buy things we need. Like toilet paper, tooth paste, and mouth wash. (At least I hope we all buy those things! ;) But, most of these type products are bought based on price… not status. These types of businesses are “commodity based” models where ultimately competitors get into a bidding war and drive the profits margins down to 2 or 3%.

So, unless you want to sell basic “need” items for peanut profit margins – what else can you do?

The answer is easy…

Sell people what they WANT!

This is a terrible example, but unfortunately I’m going to use it. Have you ever had the displeasure of living with someone or knowing someone who was addicted to hardcore drugs? They would rather buy drugs than take care of their family, they’d steal from you just to get their next fix.

Reason is thrown out the window – they are focused only on one thing – what they want.

Now, I’m not saying you should go and sell drugs by any means!! ;)

What I’m saying is this.

Instead of starting with WHAT you are going to sell… instead focus on WHO you are going to sell to. This makes life a whole lot easier. Take a look at what is already working, at what people are already buying. Then – sell that.

I know it’s not sexy or glamorous and it can be more exciting to dream up the next IPAD… but trust me, it’s pretty exciting when you see sales popping everyday in your bank account.

So, that’s where you need to start at. Decide what people want by doing proper Market Research. Use the Google Keyword Tool (google that term to find it) and you can see if people are already searching for your idea. And if they are, BAM – you’re onto something.

3 Free Ways To Market Your Small Business Online

Note: While this post is aimed at local small business owners, internet marketers will also get a lot out of it. Please read and share the love. :)

Most small business owners know they need to be involved in online marketing but many are at a loss on simple steps they can take to get started or grow their internet presence.  It’s unfair too because many small businesses are stuck buying expensive print ads in newspapers and the yellow pages.

So, in this short article, we’re going to learn 3 free ways to market your small business on the internet. With no further ado, let’s do it!

Create a Facebook Fan Page

Facebook Fan Pages are not just a novelty anymore. If you look, most “big brands” aren’t even advertising their own websites these days, they’re advertising their facebook page. You’ve probably seen ads for companies like Ford and at the end it says “visit us on facebook” or something along those lines.

Why is facebook so important for small business marketing? To answer that question, let me tell you a story. Imagine you go to a party and when you arrive first. While you’re waiting for everyone else to show up you look around the room. Sure, there are beautiful pictures everywhere and you can read all about your host and even learn a little about why the party is happening.

After hours and hours of waiting alone, you finally figure it out. No one else is coming to this party. So, why am I talking about parties? Because that “party” is your website (if you have one). Websites are good to quickly give information, but there’s no space for interaction. And even if there is, it’s not in real time.

Facebook practically allows you to communicate in real time with your customers, and it allows them to interact with each other. Your best customers will help spread the word about your business and help the “newbies” who have questions. To go back to our party example, it’s like being at a party with all the cool kids – and they all want to talk to you!

So, if you don’t have a facebook fanpage yet… now is the time.

And I have some good news for you, I’ve setup a site where my team and I will GIVE your business a FREE Facebook Fan Page For Small Business. You can claim your free page here: http://FreeFanPage.biz

Please note: Many people charge up to $497 for this service, so if you don’t have a page yet, don’t pay for it… use the software I have and get it done right away. You’ll be amazed how easy it is and you get complete instructions and videos and even my support line.

Blogging For Your Business

Besides a facebook fan page, you need to be blogging. A Blog is simply a type of website that allows you to post articles or posts in order. They aren’t too hard to setup and you can get free blogs from sites like blogger.com or wordpress.com. Although, I think it’s best to install your own custom blog software.

Blogs are really important because they allow you to create fresh content which in turn get your site ranked for better terms. This is especially important for local businesses because it’s a lot easier to rank for keywords when you have a local phrase. For example, if I wanted to rank for Tarpon Springs Internet Marketer it wouldn’t be that hard because:

1) There’s not a lot of competition

2) I have a blog and can write a blog post all about that topic

Google loves stuff like this because the page that my blog creates is completely optimized for the phrase Tarpon Springs Internet Marketer. And blogs also help solve the “party scene with no guests” scenario because you can actually include facebook comments in your blog. This is a bit complex, but most web designers can do this for you if you ask.

Find Free Small Business Leads Using Twitter

This is a great little tactic for small businesses, especially if you don’t mind reaching out and looking for customers. So many local business owners just wait for someone to walk in the door… so by getting out and looking you’ll be 10 times better off than other business owners.

Here’s how this strategy works. Many people are on twitter. It’s a micr0-blogging site that allows people to post short updates about what they’re doing. You can sign up for Twitter by going to Twitter.com. It’s always best to use your name so you appear to be more real. And don’t worry, it’s free to sign up.

Anyway, when you register you can now communicate with other people on Twitter. So, who are you going to talk to on there? Easy. You’re going to go here:

http://search.twitter.com/advanced

Search for words or phrases people might say who need your product or service. The good thing about Twitter is that people love to complain on there over mundane things. For example, someone might write, “dang it! My brakes are going out. This sucks!”

So, imagine if you’re an automechanic you could contact that person and offer them a free check-up or whatever. And the best part is, before you do your search, you can actually type in a zip code area to search in. That way, if you’re in Dunedin, Florida you are going to be seeing updates from people in a different state.

Small Business Internet Marketing: Start Now

You’ve just been given 3 great ways to get stated marketing your small business online. But the real key is to get started now. Don’t wait another second. Your competitors are either already online taking your customers or getting ready to be. One of the real keys to the internet is that the early bird gets the worm.

So, take what you’ve just read and put it to work now.

Mike Antoni Manifesto

I’ve had a whirlwind month. I decided to go back to school so I can reach my ultimate dream of getting an MBA degree. It’s not always fun, but it is exciting. Beyond that, I met a girl back in December and as of this weekend, we’re now officially “together”. It’s a rather exciting time to say the least.

And this has caused me to really focus on what I’ve been doing, what I want to be doing, and how I can better serve my customers. (Hopefully that’s you). So, I’m writing this just to sort of reach out to you and hopefully give you a little insight into what I’ve been thinking.

What Makes Life Worth Living Anyway?

If you really are into this whole making money on the internet thing, odds are you have a reason for it. And if you’re like me, it’s just because you like money. Sure, money is awesome. I heard someone say the other day, “I don’t like money, I like the way it spends.” Made me chuckle. But let’s get serious here for a minute.

The real reason you want to work from home, or make a lot of money is so you can do more things with your family, right? Right now, I am really enjoying myself because my business runs even when I’m not around. I spent Sunday at Epcot in Disney with my girlfriend. While I was there having a blast, my business brought money in for me automatically.

Even as I write this from the comfort of my home, I have lots of automatic ways of making money online. And that’s great for me right? I’m gonna make another assumption here. I’d bet you’ve been trying to make money on the internet for a while. You’ve probably bought a lot of stuff and tried a few different things.

But no matter how hard you’ve tried, things just don’t seem to work out for you. And there’s a good reason for that.

Perception vs. Reality (The Internet Marketing Game)

In life, there is no absolute reality experienced by everyone. We all see with our eyes and then use our brains to “perceive” what just happened. That’s why 5 people can see the same car accident and give 5 different accounts of what happened. Sometimes, they can’t even agree on the color of the cars involved!

In reality, (pun intended) perception is what we go by. But how does this apply to Internet Marketing. Here’s how: The “gurus” and the internet marketing stars sell a dream. They don’t mean to. I will be honest and say I even do it myself. I’ve been doing this whole business thing since 2006. So when I say something is easy… it is – TO ME.

But to you, it probably isn’t. But common sense will tell you that you can’t sell something as “hard, difficult to learn, and very time consuming.” Who wants to buy that, right? So, we focus on the easy aspects, the parts that we like doing. But I am convinced that internet marketers put blinders on to the “reality” of the situation.

When we create a new business, we work like dogs. We are putting together all these different pages, contacting vendors, joint venture partners, writing copy, getting graphics done, working on the flow of the sales process. I mean, there is A LOT. But we sort of just “do it”. And guess what? When you’re done with it, everything really does sort of just happen and go “easy”.

But we tend to forget about the work, the hard part…the stuff we do that goes unnoticed by the masses that really creates the money. And this is the part that you don’t get to see and we don’t talk about.

How Much Money Do You Need?

I listen to Tony Robbins a lot. Really love his stuff. And he talked about how most people want to get “rich” when they don’t really need to. They just need to get enough money to cover their living expenses. Just imagine how you would feel if you brought in enough money each month to cover your house payment, electric, water, you car payment, insurance, and gas, food, credit card payments, or whatever else you had to pay for each month.

Now imagine if you could do that without a J.O.B.

Sounds pretty awesome right?

I’ve been able to do that for 5 years now. It hasn’t always been easy. And some years I make WAY more than other years. But overall, it’s been an awesome ride.

A New Way Of Internet Marketing

I’ve really taken a step back and looked at my life. And as I do that, I realize that I haven’t been “living” like I should. What I mean is that I’ve been very work focused. I guess that’s the nature of life in America. We are definitely trained to work. And I’m not saying I’m not gonna work and create like I’ve been doing.

But I am changing my priorities. I’ll be spending a lot more time with my girlfriend now. As a matter of fact, I’ve got a lot of plans (in my head) to travel with her. I’ll spend more time with my family, and I’ll focus on the things I want to do, not just my business.

And I will work less hours than I’ve ever worked before. And I plan on doing it by giving away more value than I ever have before. And I want to pass that value onto you.

I don’t want to go into it all here right now, I’ll put up a page soon to explain everything to you. I’ve got something in mind that I think you will absolutely love. It’s not meant to get you rich, it’s just meant to help you get started, make money, and eventually replace your day job so you can do what you want with your life.

That’s my new manifesto now.

I want to help people do what they want to do with their lives… even when they aren’t sure how.

Here’s How You Can Be Involved

I feel like I’ve poured out a lot in this post. And I’d love to hear from you. Please take a second right now and leave me a comment. Let me know WHY you want to make more money. Tell me about your dreams, about the things you want to do with your family. Tell me about a new love you have in your life… or the love you’ve had for years.

I just want to hear from you and connect with you on a deeper personal level. I want to know what makes you get up in the morning, and what keeps you going.

I want to hear your story. Tell me what you want and what you’re willing to do to get it… as long as you have someone to help show you the way.

I can’t wait to hear from you. God bless!

The Amazing Blog Switch

I’ve just made a discovery when it comes to opt-in rates and click through rates on my blog. This is part of my ongoing testing that I do to ensure my blog and internet marketing results are always up to par. I read a great report that talked about maximizing clicks on a website. It talked about how switching the sidebar from the Right side to the left side increases clicks across the board.

I was definitely interested in testing this out as I’ve pretty much always put my sidebar on the right hand side. I guess I did this because it was easier for my site visitor (or so I thought) and it LOOKS more appealing. But, ever the tester, I when in and made the change so my sidebar is now on the LEFT hand side!

So, here’s what I did. I sent out an email to my list of prior prospects and customers. And I pointed them over to my blog to read some free content. I actually sent them to read this if you’d also like to read it.

Anyway, let’s get to the details.

Previously, whenever I sent traffic directly to this blog my opt-in rate was paltry. My stats show a total of 130 people signed up for my blog email list over the period of the last 3 months. I haven’t been actively marketing this blog like I should be. However, once I made the change and put the sidebar on the left hand side, in just 2 days I got 48 new signups to my blog newsletter.

This was out of a total of 237 visitors across those 2 days. You can see that my opt-in rate was an awesome 20.2%. Keep in mind these people were already on one of my lists and they are signing up for another list of mine, so my number will be a little higher than if it was just general traffic. But I’ve sent my list here before and never got more than 5-10 of them to opt-in in a given day.

Look At How Switching The Sidebar Effects Click Through Rate On My Banner Ads

If just the opt-in rate increases I would have been thrilled with my discovery. But I got a lot more than that. Previously, on any given day I would get between 1-3 clicks on my various ads as long as they were in the right sidebar. After making the switch (and sending some traffic) I instantly saw my CTR JUMP on almost all my ads.

Ads that had NEVER been clicked before were suddenly being clicked. My top ad was getting 10-20 clicks a day from just 100 visitors. That led to a squeeze page and my opt-in rate on that page was near 60%.

So, after this test which side of the blog do you think my sidebar is gonna be on? Easy answer. The LEFT SIDE!

Why Is The Left Side Of The Blog So Much More Responsive Than The Right Sidebar

My most basic observation is a simple one. In the English language, we read from LEFT to RIGHT. So, the eye sees the opt-in form and all the ads a lot easier when they are pushed to the left. When my sidebar was on the right hand side, the human eye could sort of just block it out. Now, you can’t help but see all the banner ads and opt-in box.

Even I look at my ads now more than I did. And at the end of the day it’s all about views. More views equals more clicks. So, if you’re looking to spice up your blog (and make some more money) maybe it’s time you made the switch.
