When I first started learning about RSS data feeds, I wasn’t totally sure what all the fuss was about. Sure, it’s kind of cool to have your data all coming in a nice organized way… but is it really worth it?
But I digress…
Before I go down that path let’s talk about what the HECK RSS Feeds are. And I won’t give you some super technical mumbo jumbo answer because I don’t know that. But I do know the important stuff. Mainly how to make money with RSS feeds and how to literally “feed” your mind with a practically infinite amount of data.
What Does RSS Mean And How Can I Use It?
RSS is an acronym that stands for Really Simple Syndication. Think about it like this. Before, when you wanted to know what was being written on a blog you had go to each blog individually. You had to scroll around through large blocks of text (or scan the archives) to find the content you want.
And sometimes you even had to do the unthinkable…bookmark a page! If you’re anything like me you might still have so many bookmarks it’s practically impossible to keep track of them. I can literally let my bookmark list scroll for about 2 minutes. Over the years I probably have 1000′s of bookmarks.
So, let’s get back to rss data feeds and why you should be using them.
The best way to get a lot of information quickly sent to you is to simply subscribe to the blog’s rss feed. To do this, you look for a button that says RSS on the page somewhere. If you use the firefox browser, an orange icon will appear at the top of the page right next to where you type in the domain.
You would just click on the orange button and choose to subscribe to the feed. This makes it really easy to then view all of my posts without having to come back to the page everytime. It’s a way to really read content fast.
I actually use RSS feeds to learn a lot of new information about internet marketing. I’ve found a lot of great blogs that teach some really good content. I have a bookmark section called “feeds”. Inside feeds I literally just skim through and pick and choose the best of the best content available.
I highly recommend you subscribe to at least a few good blogs that offer content that you want. This is the fastest way to literally “FEED” your mind. And that’s why it’s called Really Simple Syndication. Because you are actually getting syndicated content sent right to you. And when you think about how complex most stuff is…it actually is pretty simple.
How To Profit With RSS Data Feeds
Believe it or not, you can actually make money with rss feeds. The real secret is to leverage other people’s content. One way I do this is by using other people’s rss feeds to automatically put content on niche blogs. And I use a lot of different feeds including youtube, yahoo answers, google news, yahoo news, and even bing and twitter.
Even though so many people talk about duplicate content and say it hurts you, I haven’t seen it. I’ve had 1 blog I didn’t touch for a year that got 200-300 unique visitors everyday. And they were finding me for free in the search engines even though I had no unique content. So, the real moral of this story is not to listen to what everyone says. Sometimes it is best to just go for it.
Once you have the traffic coming in, here’s how you can profit from it. Setup affiliate links from clickbank.com and add google adsense. Just do that and see what happens. And imagine this. If you only make $30 a month just repeat the process. If you have 100 sites (might take you a while, but who cares) you would have $3,000 a month.
I’m presently setting up these “automatic profit portals” for myself now as part of a larger marketing test. This is something I believe anyone can do. And you should definitely start looking into it for yourself.
